Phonetics and phonology of Swedish dialects around the year 2000 : a research plan
نویسندگان
چکیده
Phonetic and phonological data on today’s Swedish dialects are scarce. The aim of this project is to record and analyze comparable speech samples from about 90 dialect areas. A central theoretical goal is to establish phonetic and phonological typologies on the basis of segmental and prosodic characteristics of the Swedish dialects. A practical goal is the creation of a digital database for use in research and education. The project, which is scheduled to run during the period 1998-2003, is a collaborative effort between the phonetics departments in Lund, Stockholm and Umeå.

The early Arab grammarians knew phonetics quite well, although they mixed it with phonology, but interest in phonetics has remained ...

Is phonetics part of phonology? This straightforward question has received various answers at different points in the history of linguistics. In this paper I attempt to document...
